Biography

Leonardo Magnani was born in Fiesole on the 14th of May 1981. He graduated at the Liceo Artistico Leon Battista Alberti in Florence and in 2005 he gained his Art degree at the “Accademia delle belle Arti” of Florence, in the painting class of professor Adriano Bimbi.

In the years prior his degree he participates to various working/living spaces in the tuscan countryside. These projects where curated by professor Adriano Bimbi in collaboration with the municipaities of S.Piero a Sieve and Barberino di Mugello, comencing an artistic investigation on the sorrounding landscapes.

The various aspects of these landscapes become the cetral theme of his work. In that period it is mainly a “dal vero” approach to natures elements.

In 2005, after his degree, he travels through Mexico.

In 2006 he takes part in the “Naturalita’ progetto residenza” studio curated by the art historian Susanna Buricchi. The period spent in the studio house nearby Poppi (AR) lasts 8 months. In this period his work finds more sinthetis and poetic definition.

In 2007 he moves from the Mugello to Pontassieve. Always in 2007 he travels through South America, touching Brasil, Venezuela, Colombia and Equador.

In June of 2008 he wins the first prize in 11th edition of the Morlotti-Imbersago prize, organized by the Granata Braghieri Foundation (LC). He currently lives and works in the province of Florence.
